A bread machine makes quick work of this homestyle Italian bread recipe.

Nothing beats the taste of authentic homemade Italian bread. But what if you still want that great, fresh taste without spending hours kneading and waiting for the bread to rise? This Italian bread recipe is the answer.

The bread machine does all the work for this recipe for Italian bread. All you have to do is take five minutes to dump the ingredients in, start the bread machine, and wait a few hours until your piping hot loaf of fresh homemade Italian bread is ready.

This recipe calls for semolina flour, a traditional flour used in making pasta and Italian bread. You can find semolina flour in large supermarkets or your local health food store.

If you're going to make homemade bread frequently, it's a good idea to get a top-quality bread maker. Zojirushi bread machines have an excellent reputation that is well-deserved. Zojirushi bread machines are built to last, no matter how frequently you bake bread. Many come with two paddles, and the newer Zojirushi bread machines can make a horizontal loaf.

However, Zojirushi bread machines can be expensive. Check Amazon and J and R for good deals. They often have good prices. And sometimes you can get a decent price on a new or barely-used Zojirushi bread maker on eBay.

Serve this Italian bread with a nice green salad and chicken marsala, butternut squash lasagna or spinach manicotti. This Italian bread also makes a nice sandwich bread. And when it starts to get stale (as all fresh breads do, because they don't have any preservatives in them), use it for panzanella (Italian bread salad) or overnight blueberry french toast.
