Healthy recipes for low fat salad dressings like oil and vinegar made with extra virgin olive oil are great for diet weight loss programs. They're easy and delicious too!

Low Fat Salad Dressing

Don't confuse low-fat dressings with no-fat salad dressings. Most healthy salad dressings taste better with some fat, and in this case, pure extra virgin olive oil is the best choice for making low-fat salad dressings.

Spicy Italian Salad Dressing Recipe - Use this dressing for an Italian antipasto or on pasta salad.

  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 lemon, freshly juiced
  • 3 Tablespoons natural sugar
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt-free seasoning
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons basil leaves, minced
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup distilled water
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin gourmet olive oil
  • 1/4 cup minced onion, fresh or dehydrated

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in blender and blend well.
  2. Add onion and blend another 3-5 seconds.
  3. Makes 2 cups.

Oil-Free Sesame Tahini Dressing Recipe - Use this dressing for an Asian salad.

  • 1 lemon, freshly juiced
  • 1/4 cup distilled water
  • 3 Tablespoons tahini
  • 2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons honey or brown rice syrup
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 3 Tablespoons sesame seeds toasted

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend well
  2. Makes 3/4 cup.

Oil & Vinegar Salad Dressing Recipe - Perfect for a simple daily salad, or tossed with fresh tomatoes and basil.

  • 1/2 cup pure extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 Tablespoon honey, optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Directions:

  1. Blend or shake all ingredients in a jar. 1 crushed garlic clove, and a freshly squeezed lemon can be added to taste.
  2. Makes 1 cup.

Homemade Russian Salad Dressing Recipe - Make this popular dressing at home and enjoy!

  • 1/4 cup all-natural barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 Tablespoon Bragg's Liquid Aminos, or sodium reduced soy sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard powder
  • 1/4 cup black olives, pitted and drained

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients except olives in a blender, and blend until smooth.
  2. Add olives and pulse 3-5 seconds longer.
  3. Makes 1 1/4 cups.
